Imagine if these forgotten spaces could come back to life…

Graffiti Deterrent
People don’t spray paint real plants. Meadowall™ transforms blank, vulnerable surfaces into living infrastructure that naturally discourages vandalism while creating spaces people are more likely to respect and care for.

Neighborhood Beautification
Revitalizes neglected urban corridors and activates forgotten spaces. Cultivates an increased sense of safety and neighborhood pride. Provides tangible improvements to mental and emotional health through biophilic connection.

Increased Walkability
Creates more inviting pedestrian environments that encourage walking, gathering, and time spent outdoors. Increased foot traffic can help support local businesses, activate storefronts, and contribute to healthier, more connected communities.

Native Plantings
Uses regionally-appropriate and seed-grown plant species that are often unavailable in traditional nursery stock. This supports pollinators, seasonal variation, and long-term ecological resilience.

Habitat Creation
Introduces meaningful pockets of habitat into dense urban environments where green space is limited or disrupted by development. Meadowall™ helps reconnect fragmented ecosystems by providing shelter and food sources for birds, bees, and beneficial insects.

Urban Cooling
Helps cool the surroundings by releasing moisture into the air and reducing heat absorbed by buildings and hardscape surfaces. In addition, Meadowall™ can improve building thermal performance and contribute to an estimated 8–30% reduction in annual energy consumption.

Air Purification
The leaf surfaces on Meadowall™ naturally capture airborne particulate matter while helping filter pollutants such as sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide commonly produced by vehicle traffic.

Noise Reduction
Helps absorb and diffuse sound from traffic, construction, and other urban activity. Meadowall™ creates calmer, quieter environments that improve comfort for nearby residents and pedestrians.

Lower Cost
Using a seed-based system instead of fully mature plants significantly reduces upfront installation costs while lowering long-term maintenance requirements. Meadowall™ reduces overall project costs by approximately 30–50% compared to a traditional living wall.

We build the panels in-house. The GeoBloom® pre-seeded layer is secured to our patented Growtex® living wall panels. Custom graphics can be added.

We transport the panels to site and easily install them on the fence or wall. We also install the remotely-monitored irrigation system.

After just a few months, Meadowall™ is grown in and thriving. What was previously a forgotten fence or wall is now a gorgeous blooming meadow that only needs seasonal cutbacks and minimal maintenance!

Meadowall™ improves streetscape aesthetics, and demonstrates a visible commitment to sustainability throughout the construction process.

Meadowall™ can revitalize frequently vandalized spaces by introducing greenery where traditional landscaping isn’t possible. These installations help turn neglected corridors into safer, more welcoming environments for the surrounding community.
Bring nature into community-focused environments with a living wall that creates healthier, more inspiring outdoor spaces. Meadowall™ supports biodiversity, provides educational opportunities, and enhances gathering spaces with vibrant, low-footprint greenery.

Meadowall™ is an effective graffiti deterrent. These panels on our very first Meadowall™ were tagged within days of installation. However, the plants grew through the paint, and the wall wasn’t tagged again. Nature will prevail!

This Meadowall™ installation is along a busy corridor in San Francisco. When we took thermal measurements, the vegetation on the wall was 52ºF degrees cooler than the non-vegitated part of the fencing. This is urban cooling in action!
We had our Meadowall™ panels tested at an acoustic lab. The results are in—Meadowall panels provide both sound absorption (NRC 0.45) and sound blocking (up to STC 26). The acoustic benefit of Meadowall™ isn’t just theoretical—we have the numbers to back it up!

This highly visible installation—just across McCovey Cove from Oracle Park—showcases the system’s ability to bring native grasses, wildflowers, and pollinator habitat into dense urban settings. Seen by thousands of fans on their way to the ballpark, it demonstrates how even temporary or utilitarian structures can be reimagined as vibrant, biodiverse meadows.

On a highly-trafficked public walkway, we covered 1,500 square feet of fence with native California wildflowers and grasses. What was once a target for graffiti is now a vibrant, dynamic landscape that engages passersby and provides habitat for pollinators, filters the air, and softens urban noise.

How does Meadowall™ work?
Meadowall™ uses pre-seeded panels made with our proprietary Growtex® growing medium to turn fences and walls into vertical meadows. The panels are grown from seed, transported to site, and installed onto a vertical surface, where they are supported by a simple irrigation system that delivers water and nutrients across the wall. Over time, the planted surface fills in with grasses and wildflowers, creating a lower-cost, biodiverse alternative to traditional living walls.
What makes Meadowall™ different from other living wall systems?
Unlike traditional living walls that rely on mature nursery-grown plants, Meadowall™ is seeded and grown on site. This approach reduces plant, shipping, and installation costs while allowing us to use mostly native species, including plants that are not typically available in a nursery setting. The result is a more flexible, lower-maintenance, and more sustainable system that can attach directly to chain link fences as well as other wall surfaces.
What surfaces can Meadowall™ attach to?
Meadowall™ was designed to attach easily to metal chain link fencing, but it can also be installed on CMU walls, metal stud walls, and wood fencing using the appropriate mounting method for each surface. Because structural conditions vary, fence installations should be reviewed for wind load and support requirements, and temporary construction fencing may require additional reinforcement. Structural drawings are available upon request.
How is Meadowall™ watered?
Meadowall™ is irrigated through a drip line at the top of the wall, which distributes water and nutrients through the system’s wicking layer. Depending on the site, water can drain into the soil below or be collected in a gutter system. We can also provide a self-contained recirculating irrigation setup to reduce water use, though that option requires access to power.
What do I need in order to install Meadowall™?
Meadowall™ requires a stable wall or fence structure that can support 7 pounds per square foot, along with access to irrigation. Depending on the system design, this may mean a water supply, power for a recirculating system, or both. When both water and power are available, the system can be configured to automatically refill.
How much maintenance does Meadowall™ require?
Meadowall™ is designed to require far less maintenance than a traditional living wall. Ongoing care is typically limited to seasonal cutbacks of grasses and perennials, along with periodic irrigation checks. Because Meadowall™ is planted with native species and designed to reflect the natural character of a meadow, it will change with the seasons—including browning in winter before regreening and flowering in spring and summer.
What is the lifecycle and longevity of Meadowall™?
Meadowall™ begins establishing quickly, with sprouts typically appearing within about two weeks and fuller coverage developing in roughly 10 to 15 weeks. The planted system is designed to perform for approximately 3 to 6 years, while the underlying panels can last 8 to 10 years. Because the outer Geobloom™ textile layer holds the seeds and roots, it can be replaced without removing the full system, making refreshes and reseeding simpler over time. Depending on the seed mix, annuals provide seasonal color in the first year while perennials return for years to come.
Will Meadowall™ work in different climates?
Meadowall™ is designed to adapt to a wide range of climates by using seed mixes tailored to the install location and growing conditions. In colder regions, seasonal dieback or freezing may require reseeding, but reseeding Meadowall™ is typically much more cost-effective than replanting a traditional living wall. This makes it a flexible option for outdoor installations across different environments.
How much does Meadowall™ cost?
Meadowall™ material costs typically range from approximately $25 to $35 per square foot. Final project pricing will vary based on factors such as irrigation requirements, site conditions, installation details, and maintenance needs.
