Completed in 2021, this vine trellis and landscape installation at San Francisco Waldorf High School was designed to create a living wall that serves both the school community and the surrounding neighborhood. Flowering vines grow from in-ground plantings and climb a custom trellis, forming an elegant, seasonal façade that supports pollinators including bees, hummingbirds, butterflies, and birds.
The landscape encourages both informal gathering and structured learning, with students using the space as an outdoor classroom for botany, gardening, and environmental arts. Supported in part by the San Francisco Community Challenge Grant, the project was brought to life through volunteer planting days involving parents, students, faculty, and staff—strengthening community connection through shared stewardship of nature.
