Artist Statement

At One Workplace, a lush living wall was designed in collaboration with Director of Design Andreas Androutsellis to bring the feeling of an understory forest into the heart of the office. Composed of native ferns and delicate Adiantum, the planting creates a richly textured, verdant backdrop.

Located in the lounge but visible from the work areas down the hall, the wall acts like a beacon—drawing employees into a restorative space where they can pause, relax, and return to their work refreshed. Nearby, a companion installation of Tillandsia adds another unexpected layer of plant life to the workplace.

The design embodies the principles of Kaplan and Kaplan’s Attention Restoration Theory, which shows that exposure to natural environments improves focus and productivity. As one of Habitat Horticulture’s first wicking wall systems, the project also reflects the studio’s spirit of innovation—merging sustainable technology with biophilic design to support both well-being and workplace performance.
