Artist Statement

We transformed a converted garage into a unique outdoor bathroom framed by three living walls. The design was inspired by the sandstone bluffs of Montaña de Oro State Park, with layered plantings arranged in swaths that echo tectonic uplift. A resilient palette of ferns and shade-loving species was chosen to withstand the shifting conditions of sun and shade, accented by purple anthuriums for a “dark and moody” touch.
