Artist Statement

Located in the heart of San Francisco’s Tenderloin, this striking living wall installation brings greenery and sculptural presence to an urban environment. Funded in part by the City of San Francisco and the local Community Benefits District, the piece was developed in collaboration with the building’s architect to create a geometric, dynamic form.

Straddling the corner of the building, the wall appears almost like a sentient being, contrasting the angular architecture with lush, soft plantings. The design highlights the flexibility of Habitat’s GrowTex™ system, demonstrating how living walls can be tailored into bold shapes that interact seamlessly with their built surroundings.

As both an artistic statement and a tool for urban revitalization, the installation helps enliven the neighborhood while showing how thoughtful design and greenery can transform even the densest city spaces.
