Artist Statement

At this Redwood City home, an old metal shop was transformed into a striking residence, anchored by a one-of-a-kind living wall. The owner challenged the design team to incorporate a hidden face within the planting—a subtle, playful element that rewards careful observation.

Using a variety of plants to create shading and texture, the abstract face emerges gently from the wall, offering a whimsical detail without overwhelming the overall composition. The installation transforms the interior, blending artistry and greenery to create a unique, personalized centerpiece that reflects both the home’s industrial history and the owner’s creativity.
