Artist Statement

At this Los Altos Hills home, a living wall anchors the center of the living room, rising above a gently bubbling fountain to create a multi-sensory centerpiece. Designed to feel like a natural discovery without being too wild, the wall features a lush backdrop of Tilia depressa with clearings of spikier, sculptural plant forms, offering texture and visual rhythm.

The installation also engages the senses beyond sight. Aromatic herbs—including sage, mint, lemon balm, and parsley—at the base of the wall provide scent and flavor, connecting the greenery directly to the kitchen and daily life.

Every plant was carefully selected to be safe for the household’s many cats, allowing pets and people to share the space comfortably. The result is a living installation that transforms the interior into a serene, immersive retreat—bringing the restorative qualities of nature to the heart of the home.
