Artist Statement

Clover’s headquarters is housed within one of the Bay Area’s first Net Zero Energy buildings, developed by Kevin Bates of Sharp Development with Hillhouse Construction. Designed to generate as much energy as it consumes through solar and other sustainable systems, the building set a new precedent for environmentally conscious workplaces. At the heart of the office, a living wall becomes both a welcome moment and a focal point. Visible from every desk, the composition naturally draws the eye upward to the second level while also offering views back down into the lobby. From the street, the wall provides a glimpse of the company’s commitment to sustainability and wellness. The planting palette balances lush greens with vibrant accents: the fiery tones of Philodendron ‘Prince of Orange’ and the jewel-like purple of Guzmania bromeliads add warmth and depth to the space. The wall underscores Clover’s values—merging sustainability, innovation, and beauty in a way that inspires employees and visitors alike.
