Artist Statement

At Encasa, the living wall serves as the heart of the community space, inviting people to gather, socialize, and connect. Studies show that being around plants can make us friendlier, and this installation was designed to encourage interaction while creating a lush, immersive environment.

The wall is primarily composed of Geranium ‘Biokovo’, whose billowy form and fresh citrusy-minty scent bring a unique, naturalistic touch typically reserved for outdoor understory plantings. Interspersed mint plants, Asplenium bulbiferum ferns, flecked Acorus, and Heuchera provide textural highlights and gentle movement, giving the wall a dynamic yet organic feel.

A companion column complements the wall, featuring amorphous planting areas in monochromatic greens with subtle accents of orange-tinged new growth. Together, these installations blend indoor and outdoor sensibilities, creating a multi-sensory, inviting space that fosters community and connection.
